Eric Reid's Grievance Against Bengals Denied

Safety Eric Reid's grievance against the Cincinnati Bengals is being denied by an independent arbitrator. The union filed the grievance on Reid's behalf after Bengals owner Mike Brown asked Reid if he was still going to kneel for the national anthem during a free-agent visit this year.  The arbitrator ruled that the Bengals had the right to ask Reid that.  The union released a statement expressing disappointment in the decision.  Reid was the second player to begin kneeling during the anthem after former teammate Colin Kaepernick in 2016.  After his contract with the 49ers expired this spring, Reid went months without being signed until Carolina scooped him up last month.  Kaepernick remains unsigned.
