New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson broke his silence after reaching a deal on a four-year, $130 million contract extension with the franchise in a post shared on his X account Monday (July 15) morning.
"Yup, Jets green has been running through me since the day they drafted me. Despite the ups and downs, the faith is mutual… that means the world to me. Excited to start a new version of the chase next week. #JetUp," Wilson wrote.
The extension, which includes $90 million guaranteed, makes Wilson the first wide receiver in NFL history to earn an annual salary of more than $31 million after only playing three seasons, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"ESPN sources: Jets and wide receiver Garrett Wilson reached agreement on a four-year, $130 million contract extension that includes $90 million guaranteed. It marks the first time in NFL history that a receiver has received an average over $31 million after playing only three seasons. Wilson now will be under contract the next six seasons, through 2030. Agents Jeff Nalley and Graylan Crain of CAA negotiated the deal with Jets executives Nick Sabella and Darren Mougey," Schefter wrote on his X account.
Wilson, 24, was selected by the Jets at No. 10 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft and was the 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, with teammate Ahmad 'Sauce' Gardner winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award that same year. The Chicago native recorded career-bests in receptions (101), receiving yards (1,104) and touchdowns (7) in 2024.
