Bryant punches ticket to NCAA Outdoor Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sitting through 47 throws in the discus after registering an attempt of 54.25m/178-0 to start the third flight, Jordyn Bryant earned the NCAA West region's final spot to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon.

Following the first round of throws, Bryant sat in seventh place. The Bulldog moved back to eighth following the second round. Without a better mark on her final attempt, Bryant had to sit and watch 15 more throws, 11 of which came from competitors looking to pass her.

Bryant would get passed four times, finishing in 12th place to grab the final spot to next month's outdoor championships in Austin, Texas.

Bryant entered the competition seeded 15th. Seven of the Top 13 seeds, including teammate Cierra Jackson (34th, 49.18m/161-4), did not advance.

Rachela Pace closed out the week for the Bulldogs finishing 41st in the triple jump. Making her first regional appearance, the sophomore recorded her best jump on her final attempt (12.18m/39-11.5).
