'Dogs swipe series sweep over Panthers

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team completed a series sweep over the Milwaukee Panthers with a shutout win on Sunday afternoon at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In his second career start and season debut on the mound, Jack Anker opened the game with three strikeouts in the first frame.

The Bulldogs' first hit of the game came in the second inning with a hard-hit double by Rocco Peppi who soon after scored on an RBI from Marco Pirruccello.

Grady Morgan went yard for the second consecutive game to notch another run on the board for the Bulldogs in the sixth inning.

Aidan Cremarosa stepped in to relieve Anker and pitched back-to-back three up, three down innings, retiring the side in the seventh.

Tommy Hopfe slid from his starting spot at left field to the pitcher's mound where he earned his first save of the season by holding the Panthers scoreless and leading the 'Dogs to a 2-0 victory.

NOTES:

Through the weekend series, the bullpen only gave up one run, giving the weekend's relievers a 0.90 ERA.
