'Dogs stumble against Lions

LOS ANGELES – The Fresno State baseball team fell 10-4 to the LMU Lions on Tuesday at Page Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bulldogs jumped ahead early as Eddie Saldivar wasted no time hitting a leadoff home run to start the game.

A bases-loaded fielder's choice evened out the game in the bottom of the frame.

The Lions doubled their score in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run. They made it a 3-1 game in the bottom of the sixth.

Fresno State started chipping away in the seventh with an RBI single from Bobby Blandford and an RBI single from second baseman Lee Trevino to escort the Bulldogs into the lead.

LMU reclaimed the lead in the eighth, scoring seven runs on seven hits.

The Lions pitched a quick three up, three down top of the ninth to retire the Bulldogs and claim a 10-4 victory.

NOTES

Lee Trevino made his first-ever start in the infield, playing second base today and getting one hit and two RBIs.

The Bulldog pitching staff combined for seven strikeouts.
