IRVINE, Calif. – The Fresno State volleyball team is back in action this weekend at the Anteater Classic hosted by UC Irvine.

The Bulldogs will battle it out with Colorado, UC Irvine and Penn in the weekend tournament at the Bren Events Center on UCI's campus.

WE ARE SO BACK

Fresno State opened the 2025 season last weekend and the Wildcat Classic hosted by the University of Arizona, challenging Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, Alabama State and Arizona.

After winning against the Islanders and the Hornets, Fresno State opened the season with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2019.

Seven athletes made their Bulldog debut last weekend in Gabby Lombardi, Clara Garcia, Michon Sailors, Brooklyn Washington, Peyton Bitter, Olivia Lombardi and Addison Williams.

BULLDOG (VOLLEYBALL) DEBUT

Sophomore Peyton Bitter made her debut on the volleyball court this weekend; however, it was not her Bulldog debut.

Bitter joined the volleyball roster in 2025 after spending her first year of college on the Fresno State Track & Field team.

On the Track & Field team, Bitter has participated in both heptathlons and pentathlons for both the indoor and outdoor teams.

IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY

Sisters Olivia and Gabby Lombardi both made their first appearance for the Fresno State volleyball team last weekend.

Olivia transferred from Iowa for her r-sophomore season and is now the Bulldogs' starting libero.

Gabby was on the roster in 2024 as a redshirt and did not see any game action until 2025, serving as Fresno State's starting setter.

The Lombardis are no strangers to DI sports, as all five of the Lombardi siblings are or were athletes on DI rosters.

Their brother Rocky played football at Michigan and Northern Illinois, their brother Beau plays football at West Point, and their sister Payton played volleyball at Tennessee Tech.
