SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Fresno State closed its season on Saturday afternoon with a road match at San Diego State, falling in straight sets 25-13, 25-21, 25-21 at Peterson Gym.
The Bulldogs finish the year 7-22 overall and 3-15 in Mountain West play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
San Diego State came out strong offensively in the opening set, hitting .378 while holding Fresno State without a positive attack percentage. The Aztecs used multiple early runs to build momentum and take the opening frame 25-13.
Fresno State responded in the second with improved production at the net, jumping out to a lead behind blocks from Mya Sellers and Addison Haluska and a string of kills from Jenna Legault and Haluska. The Bulldogs led 18–14 before the Aztecs surged late with three service aces and took the set 25-21.
The third set stayed tight throughout, featuring one tie and Fresno State trailing by just three late after an ace from Haluska fueled a late push. San Diego State closed out the match with a kill to complete the sweep 25-21.
NOTES
Fresno State recorded 8 total blocks, including four in each of the first two sets.
The Bulldogs held SDSU to its lowest attack percentage in Set 2 (.209).
Haluska and Legault each recorded their eighth match with 9+ kills this season.
