Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington react to the NBA fining Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards $50 thousand after audio leaked of him yelling obscenities at fans during a game. To Rob, this is the perfect example of why Edwards can never become the face of the league as many have predicted. Kelvin disagrees, saying his 'anti' and 'bad boy' behavior will draw in his own type of fan base.
Rob Parker: "I know he had a national Sprite commercial, but Anthony Edwards will NOT be the face of the NBA. This kind of behavior is ridiculous. You're grabbing and talking about your body part in public to fans. Really? That's the guy I want as the face of my organization? I'm not trying to be the 'hey kids get off my lawn' guy, but this is over the top. There are women and kids there!... He's lucky the NBA only fined him 50 thousand. That uniform you've got on? It doesn't say 'Ant Man' on the front -- it says 'Minnesota'... Holding your genitalia in front of everyone there? Disgusting!"
Kelvin Washington: "Anthony Edwards won't be the face of the league, but it's not because he can't... it's because he doesn't want it! He's self-aware enough to know 'I say what I want and I do what I want', so he knows he can't [carry that responsibility]... With that being said, I think Ant will become one of the faces of the league a la a few people who did what he's doing. Think about what Michael Vick was when he came into the NFL. Think about Allen Iverson... 'Anti' often becomes popular."
